  • Chief Justice Marshall supported this right in two decisions, Cherokee Nation v. Georgia {1831} and Worcester v. Georgia {1832}.
  • Jackson refused to carry out the decision. "Marshall has made his opinion," the president reportedly said, "now let him enforce it."
